A top-suspended centrifuge hangs its rotating basket from a single bearing assembly at the top of the machine, leaving the bottom of the basket completely free. That arrangement removes the bottom bearing and bottom shaft seal that a conventional vertical centrifuge needs, which means the process zone contains no lubricated component at all: nothing below the basket can leak oil into the product, and nothing has to be sealed against a rotating shaft where the product collects. Suspended from above, the basket also runs with a natural self-centering motion. A top-suspended centrifuge therefore combines a large working volume with a product zone that is unusually easy to keep clean and to defend in an audit.
1) Feed. Slurry is fed into the suspended basket at a controlled rate and distributed across the filter medium. 2) Separation. Liquid passes through the medium under centrifugal force while the cake builds on the basket wall. 3) Wash. Wash liquid is applied over the cake to displace mother liquor and remove soluble impurities. 4) Spin-dry. The basket continues at full speed until the residual moisture target is reached. 5) Scraped discharge. A hydraulic scraper cuts the cake from the wall and it falls through the open bottom of the machine into the discharge chute. 6) Repeat. Because there is no bottom shaft to obstruct the outlet, the full basket diameter is available for discharge and cake leaves freely.
No bottom bearing and no bottom seal — the product zone has no lubricated part, so there is no oil path into the product and no bottom seal to replace.
Large working volume for the footprint — with nothing occupying the base, the whole basket can be used for product.
Mounting flexibility — the machine can be suspended from a structure or seated on a raised frame, allowing a large basket in a compact plant room.
Smooth self-centering running — the suspended arrangement lets the basket seek its own axis, which reduces the demand on the foundation.
Hydraulic scraper discharge — reliable, powerful cake removal, and the scraper is adjustable so it can be set for the medium in use.
High hygiene standard — the absence of a bottom seal and bearing is exactly what a pharmaceutical or food audit wants to see.
The PAUT top-suspended centrifuge is chosen where capacity is large, hygiene must be defensible and the machine has to fit a plant room with limited floor area:
Three vertical machines do similar work. The differences decide which one survives an audit and which one fits the room:
| Criteria | PAUT top-suspended | LGZ bottom discharge | XJZ top suspension |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bottom bearing and seal | None — none in the product zone | Sealed bottom shaft | None |
| Working volume | Largest for the footprint | Large | Medium |
| Discharge | Hydraulic scraper, open base | Scraper, through base hatch | Scraper or manual |
| Installation | Suspended or on raised frame | On a foundation or frame | Suspended |
| Hygiene level | Highest — no lubrication below | High — sealed | High |
| Best suited to | Large audit-sensitive batches | Long automated campaigns | Sugar and fine crystals |
Choose the PAUT top-suspended centrifuge when you need the largest possible batch in a compact room and the product zone must contain no lubricated component. Where full automation of a repeated cycle is the priority, the LGZ bottom discharge machine is the better fit; for sugar and fine crystals, see the XJZ range.

Basket and casing in 304, 316L, duplex or titanium; Halar or rubber lining; filter cloth or sintered mesh medium; hydraulic scraper with adjustable cut depth and replaceable tip; closed execution with vapor containment; nitrogen blanketing and explosion-proof motor; variable-frequency drive with stored recipes; CIP connections; suspension frame or support structure to suit your building.
Because that is where most contamination risk in a vertical centrifuge lives. A bottom bearing needs lubrication, and its shaft seal is a sliding interface where product collects and where wear eventually lets oil past. On a top-suspended machine neither of those parts exists in the product zone, so there is nothing to leak and nothing to re-seal.
Any scraper will break some crystals. The advantage here is not crystal protection but capacity and hygiene. If intact crystals are the priority, a bag lifting machine is the right choice; if large batch volume with a clean, defensible product zone is the priority, the PAUT wins.
Less demand on it. Because the basket hangs from a single point and can self-center, the dynamic loads transmitted to the structure are lower and better controlled than on a base-mounted machine of the same size. We confirm the structural requirements from your building drawing.
Yes, in the closed execution with vapor containment, nitrogen blanketing and an explosion-proof motor and panel. The absence of a bottom seal is actually an advantage here, since there is one less place for vapor to escape.
The basket is open at the bottom and the process zone contains no bearing or seal, so there is no concealed cavity for product to lodge in. Cleaning is by hand or by a fitted spray system, and because there is no bottom seal to protect, cleaning agents can be used without the restrictions a sealed machine imposes.
Jiangsu Shengli Centrifuge Manufacturing Co., Ltd. manufactures this range at its 158,905 m2 works, where the critical operations - machining, wear-facing and dynamic balancing - are carried out in house rather than subcontracted. The company is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, holds CE marking and more than 30 patents, and exports to over 30 countries. Each machine is run-tested before dispatch and supplied with its balancing record.
Before you specify, send us your material. We test it on laboratory and pilot machines and report what the separation actually achieves, so the model we recommend is based on measurement rather than assumption. Include your target moisture or clarity figure and we will tell you honestly whether this machine can reach it.
