What Is an Explosion-Proof Bottom Discharge Centrifuge?

The gas-tight centrifuge is a vertical automatic bottom discharge machine whose process zone is sealed as standard: a hydraulic clamshell cover and a mechanical shaft seal close the basket, so neither vapor nor dust reaches the room during feed, washing, spin-dry or discharge. Working Principle

Closed feed. Slurry is charged at a controlled rate through a sealed line; the hydraulic cover and mechanical shaft seal keep the process zone closed from the first drop.

Separation and washing. Filtration and cake washing proceed inside the sealed basket, with wash liquor and filtrate leaving through closed lines.

Spin-dry. The basket spins to the required dryness while the controller monitors motor load and temperature.

Inerting, when specified. Where the solvent can form an explosive atmosphere, the sealed zone is purged with nitrogen before feed and oxygen content is verified against the set limit; the interlock prevents a cycle from starting outside that window.

Scraped discharge. A scraper removes the cake through the bottom hatch with no manual handling, and an air-assisted scraper can be specified to clear the residual heel.
