A pen refill centrifuge is not a separation machine — it is a filling machine that uses vacuum and centrifugal force together to load ink into pen refills, markers and similar tubular bodies. The refills are held in a rotating carrier; air is drawn out of the ink channels under vacuum and the centrifugal field then drives ink into the freed volume, so the refill fills completely with no trapped air. That is what makes a pen refill centrifuge valuable to a pen factory: an incompletely filled refill writes intermittently, and a refill containing bubbles writes unevenly or leaks, and neither fault can be inspected out afterwards.
1) Load. Refills, cartridges or marker bodies are placed in the holder plate, typically 24 at a time. 2) Close and evacuate. The chamber is sealed and evacuated, so air is drawn out of the ink path and out of the ink itself. 3) Ink admission. Ink is admitted to the chamber while the vacuum holds the channels open for filling. 4) Centrifugal filling. The carrier spins, and centrifugal force drives ink into the refills, displacing the remaining air and filling from the closed end outward. 5) Degassing. Continued spinning under vacuum pulls residual dissolved air out of the ink, which is what prevents bubbles re-forming after filling. 6) Unload. Vacuum is released, the chamber opens and the filled refills are removed.
Bubbles removed, not just avoided — vacuum degassing removes dissolved air, so bubbles do not reappear in the barrel later.
Complete fill every time — the combination of vacuum and centrifugal force fills the full ink volume rather than leaving voids at the closed end.
High throughput per batch — 24 holders and roughly 10,000 pieces per batch, matched to a pen production line.
Consistent quality — every refill in a batch sees the same vacuum and the same centrifugal field, so fill weight varies less than with manual filling.
Simple to operate — the cycle is short and largely automated, so it fits into an existing line without specialised labor.
Clean and contained — the closed chamber keeps ink off the factory floor and out of the operators' environment.
The PZB pen refill centrifuge is used by writing instrument manufacturers and by companies filling tubular ink reservoirs where the fill must be complete and bubble-free:
Ink can be loaded into a refill several ways. Compare them on what the finished pen has to do:
| Criteria | PZB vacuum centrifuge | Vacuum filling only | Gravity or syringe filling |
|---|---|---|---|
| Air in the barrel | Almost none — vacuum plus centrifugal force | Reduced but not eliminated | Common |
| Writing consistency | High | Variable | Low |
| Fill volume per batch | About 10,000 pieces | Depends on station count | Low, labor-bound |
| Degassing of ink | Yes | Partial | No |
| Labor per batch | Very low | Low | High |
| Best suited to | Refill and marker production at scale | Small batch filling | Sampling and prototyping |
Choose the PZB when writing consistency and throughput both matter — that is, in production. For sampling and small experimental batches, simple vacuum or syringe filling is adequate and much cheaper.
| Model | Holder count | Batch capacity (pcs) | Max speed (r/min) | Vacuum level | Cycle time (min) | Motor (kW) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PZB16 | 16 | About 6,000 | 1,200 | –0.08 MPa | 8–12 | 3 |
| PZB24 | 24 | About 10,000 | 1,000 | –0.08 MPa | 10–15 | 5.5 |
| PZB32 | 32 | About 14,000 | 900 | –0.08 MPa | 12–18 | 7.5 |
Holder plates bored to your refill dimensions; chamber and wetted parts in stainless steel with ink-compatible seals; vacuum pump sized to your cycle; control of spin speed, vacuum level and dwell time with stored recipes; heated chamber option for viscous inks; automatic ink dosing; integration with your existing conveyor or feed system.
The standard machine holds 24 refills and fills roughly 10,000 pieces per batch, with cycles in the range of ten to fifteen minutes. Larger holder plates are available, and the holder is bored to your specific refill dimensions, so capacity is matched to your product.
Because spinning alone cannot empty the air out of a closed-ended tube. Vacuum removes the air first; centrifugal force then drives ink into the space the air has vacated. Using both together fills the refill completely, and continued spinning under vacuum also pulls dissolved air out of the ink so bubbles do not reappear later.
Incomplete filling, usually with an air pocket at the closed end of the refill so ink does not reach the feed channel. A vacuum-plus-centrifugal fill removes that pocket. If your refills fill by gravity or by syringe, intermittent writing is the predictable result rather than a random fault.
Yes. Spin speed, vacuum level and dwell time are set from stored recipes, and a heated chamber is available for inks that are too viscous to fill quickly at ambient temperature. Changing product means selecting a different recipe and a different holder plate.
No, and that is important to be clear about. The PZB is a dedicated filling machine for tubular ink reservoirs. It does not separate solids from liquids and it is not interchangeable with our filter or sedimentation centrifuges.
Jiangsu Shengli Centrifuge Manufacturing Co., Ltd. builds this equipment in a 158,905 m2 plant with in-house machining, hard-facing and rotor dynamic balancing. The company holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification, CE marking and more than 30 patents, and has supplied machines to customers in over 30 countries. Every unit is balanced and run-tested before shipment, and the balancing report is supplied with the machine.
Send us a sample of your material and we will run it on a pilot machine, then report the measured moisture, throughput and clarity before you order. Tell us your material and your target, and our engineers will recommend the model, the material of construction and the options that fit.
