What Is a PQG Top Discharge Centrifuge?

The top discharge centrifuge is a flat plate batch filter centrifuge in which the operator lifts the cover and removes the dewatered cake from the top of the basket, either with a scraper or by vacuum suction. Slurry is fed into a perforated basket and separated under centrifugal force; the cake is then washed and spin-dried before being lifted out. Because everything is reached from above, the basket, the housing and the filter medium can all be cleaned and inspected without dismantling the machine, and a top discharge centrifuge fits into cells where there is no room for a bottom hatch or a heavy discharge system.

Working Principle

Feed. Slurry is fed into the rotating basket and distributed over the filter medium.

Separation. Liquid passes through the medium under centrifugal force while solids build up as a cake on the basket wall.

Wash. Wash liquid is applied to the cake to displace mother liquor and remove soluble impurities.

Spin-dry. The basket continues at full speed to reduce residual moisture.

5) Top discharge. The cover opens and the cake is removed from above — either scooped or scraped by hand for small batches, or lifted out by a built-in vacuum suction device on the automatic version.
